As a team at Anthill Films, we’re always trying to understand the person behind the performance. With Mathieu, there’s no real separation. What you see is what you get—consistent, focused, and quietly driven.
It was a privilege for us to point cameras at someone like that, especially while he’s still in his prime. More than anything, it gave us a window into his world—not just how he rides, but the environment and support network that has surrounded him his whole life, making it all possible, like his father, Adrie, and late grandfather, Raymond, both acclaimed cyclists. At one point he said :
“I have some talent that I got when I was born, but at a certain point, that talent is not enough. You need to put in the hard work and hours to be at the highest level.”
That line stuck with us because you can see it in everything he does. It’s not something he talks about—it’s just built into the way he works.
That’s what This is Home became about for us. Not the highlights, but the process behind them. The repetition, the familiarity, and the fact that even at his level, there’s still something to chase.
